Mental Health at Home

Digital Artwork: "Game time!"

by Sein Hwang DP1

Screen Shot 2020-05-25 at 5.38.42 PM.png

Sein was inspired by the "Quarantine Bingo" trending viral, so she was motivated to create one dedicated for our students. She started to investigate what kind of quarantine activities gained popularity recently, therefore came up with activities like "Making Dalgona Coffee", "MBTI test", or "Attended Zoom online class late". Why not take a short moment to play this? How many did you try?

Physical Artwork: "What I do at home"

by Anya Sindhwani P3Y

Anya shared what activities she learns at home in order to maintain her mental and physical health. She presented different kinds of activities in each room, such as cleaning, cooking, watching television, and more. She perfectly conveyed home as a safe place and emphasized the needs to stop the spreading.

Physical Artwork: "Trapped"

by Azra DP2

"I wanted to express what it felt like for those who may not have a good relationship with their family in this quarantine. They may be suffering from any thing, from anxiety to depression, the environment they are surrounded by my deeply affect how they feel. The house represents quarantine, and inside the house is filled with water, illustrated by the floating chair and bubbles. This shows the drowning or trapped feeling some people may have during quarantine, unable to go out from such environments. The surroundings around the house represent the mask people put on to hide their current state. The broken tree about to fall on the roof represents that the mask may break at any point. The vines on the house indicate aging, the period of time this mask has been maintained."

Physical Artwork: "Pillows at home "

by Sein Hwang DP1

" I wanted to draw this drawing to empathise with the difficulties most students are currently facing during this period of MCO/lockdown.  The stacked pillows the character is squishing against himself  represent the load of work and projects that are needed to be done and completed. At the same time, they represent how lethargic we have become while staying at home wanting to just stay in bed. "

Comic Strip: "Corona-Blueing"

by Low Zhe Ni M4G

IMG_9473.jpg

Zhe Ni creatively produced a short comic strip recommending new activities to try at home. It gives an idea that the lockdown period is an opportunity to try out meaningful activities whilst keeping yourself motivational.  We all can make use of this quarantine period and develop ourselves to try out something we could not due to a limited amount of time spent at home. Even a description of benefits are provided for each activity, so why don't we try these out at home?

Physical Artwork: "New Things!"

by Laetisha Poon M5

Laetisha shared new skills, movies, and podcasts she discovered during the lockdown. Her artwork shows variegated activities which shows that staying at home might not always be a bad thing. Observing the little details, we might come to a conclusion that the lockdown gives individuals an opportunity to spend a time solely dedicated for themselves. Everyone will understand that coming up with various activities day by day was a hard task being at home. By observing her artwork, you might find some home activities that you have not tried.

"Many of us are mentally unstable or depressed due to this lockdown. Some have even lost their sense of clarity. If you know anyone who is not doing well mentally these few days, please help them. Tell them that there’s still hope! 🌼"- Gupta

Physical Artwork: "IB Life"

by Andy Hadian Shah DP1

Andy's%20Physical%20Drawing%20Covid_edit

Andy's work portrayed a realistic life of a student, loaded with increased amount of assignments during the MCO. All the students might be able to empathize with this as they would feel like they are trapped with a pile of tasks.

Physical Artwork: "The sun will rise, and we will try again"

by Ashlee Alkhair DP1

"It is very easy to succumb to feelings of loneliness and demotivation during this lockdown period.  I want the audience to remember that despite this depressing situation, they are never alone and will have new things to look forward to. The starry sky and quote below signifies hope for a better future, and the orange between the black symbolises the lights of other houses, to remind everyone that we are all in this together."

Digital Artwork: "2020 is My Year"

by Chan Jie Ning M3Y

FullSizeRender.jpg

Jie Ning shows how she is perfectly enjoying the lockdown. While there are some people who are longing for new activities to prevent boredom, there are also some that feels satisfaction just by staying at home.  It can't be denied that the lockdown period provided us with an opportunity to take a good rest at home, and spend time for ourselves.

Digital Artwork: "It's Not Over"

by Jason Lee Seung Jun DP1

"Mental health has been a vital aspect for our wellbeing throughout the MCO period. At such complicated times, the false belief that the lockdown would end in 2 weeks has been one of the main culprits to the contribution of mental breakdowns and hopelessness. The vivid colours represent “life and creativity” that all teenagers once possessed. Unfortunately, they are being replaced by cynical and empty thoughts that are devouring the life of a healthy teenager. Till this day, the haunting thought that the lockdown continues to haunt our mental and emotional well-being indefinitely. “Save us before we decolourise.” "
